Newton Celebrates Fourth of July With Annual Fireworks, Events

It's a day of events, punctuated by the spectacular fireworks show in the evening.

Newton does Independence Day right.

On Saturday, July 4, Newton Community Pride sponsors events throughout the day to celebrate the Fourth of July.

β€œKids Morning,” from 10 a.m. to noon, takes place at the Newton Centre Playground at Tyler Terrace. For children 3-12, it features a Grande Pet Parade, Decorated Doll Carriage Promenade, Teddy Bear Parade, foot races and free ice cream.

Also in honor of Independence Day is β€œ4 For the 4th Food Drive,” at which residents are asked to bring four items to kids morning. Requested items are: Bar soap, canned corn, canned pineapple, cereals, ground coffee, jelly/jam, pasta, peanut butter and jelly, soap, toilet paper, tomato paste/sauce, toothpaste, tuna, vegetable oil. The program helps children in Newton.

In the afternoon, from 1-9 p.m., at Albemarle Field/Halloran Field is the main event, which includes an open air market, amusement rides, handmade and international crafts, food vendors, children’s activities and entertainment.

In the Gazebo, Tom Anderson plays at 1 p.m., Patrice Peris at 3:30 p.m. and on the main stage is a performance by Bo & Bill Winiker Band at 6 p.m.

The fireworks get set off at 9 p.m.
