Newton Lifts Snow Emergency, Info on Trash Collection

Newton City officials announced the snow emergency ended at 2 p.m. on Friday. 

The city also announced ways to contact the city with snow problems and the updated trash/recycling collection schedule:

Our 311/Customer Service line can be reached at 617-796-1000 until 5pm tonight, and from 8 am-2 pm on Saturday.

Due to the combination of the New Year's holiday and the snow storm, there are delays throughout the city in trash and recycling collection. Below is a summary of the delays:

Due to the combination of the snow storm and new years holiday delay, if your normal collection day is Thursday, your collection will take place tomorrow, Saturday, January 4th.

If your normal collection day is Friday, your collection will take place on
Monday, January 6th.

In addition, for the week of January 6th, there will be a one day delay throughout the city.

Saturday, January 4th.

Saturday, January 4th collections (regular Friday route) postponed until Monday, January 6th.

Monday Januay 6th collections postponed until Tuesday, January 7th.

Wednesday, January 8th collections postponed until Thursday, January 9th.

Thursday, January 9th collections postponed until Friday, January 10th.

Friday, January 10th collections postponed until Saturday, January 11th.
