Newton Mayor Setti Warren Celebrates Special Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center at Chestnut Hill Square

NEWTON, MA—Newton Mayor Setti D. Warren (third from left) and Kevin Tabb, MD, President and CEO of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), (third from right), recently cut the ribbon to mark the  opening of the new Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare-Chestnut Hill outpatient facility at Chestnut Hill Square in Newton.

The ceremony included remarks from Kevin Tabb, MD, Mayor Warren, Jayne Carvelli-Sheehan, and Linda Sloane Kay. After the ceremony, public officials, BIDMC physicians, clinicians, and other guests toured the facility and attended a reception.

“We’re looking forward to providing our patients with easy access to these important services,” said Tabb. “Having comprehensive medical services in a brand new building with state-of-the-art systems at a convenient Route 9 location – in essence an extension of the Longwood Medical corridor – provides us with an enormous opportunity to better serve our patients.”

The new BID center, located in the 30,000 square-foot facility, will offer primary care, urgent care, and 20 medical and surgical specialties with physicians and staff from BIDMC. Specialties include OB/GYN and Women’s Health; Sports Medicine with Orthopedics, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy; Imaging with CT scanning; on-site lab; a Spine Center; acupuncture; and massage.  In addition, surgical specialties include oncology, breast clinic, colorectal, and podiatry.

BID’s Advanced Urgent Care Center, planned to open August 4, differs from other urgent care facilities in that every patient is seen by a board-certified emergency medicine physician, the same doctors who work in Beth Israel Deaconess hospitals’ emergency rooms. Patients can access this care without appointments seven days a week, 10 hours a day.
