Newton North Grad Picked As All Conference Soccer Star

NEWTON, MA β€” A Newton North graduate was among five standouts on the Lasell University women's soccer team who earned post-season honors from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) on Monday.

Freshman midfielder Bobbi O'Guin of West Newton was an all-conference second team pick, the school announced Tuesday.

A 5-7 midfielder, O'Guin is named all-conference after finishing second on the team in scoring with five goals and four assists for 14 points. Her totals were fifth highest among all first-year players in the conference and 19th overall.

O'Guin tallied a goal and two assists in a victory over Norwich University, leading to her selection as conference Rookie of the Week on September 30.

Lasell finished the season with a 9-11 overall record under 13th-year head coach Vito La Francesca, and tied for fourth place in the conference with an 8-4 mark. The Lasers posted an overtime victory at Suffolk University in the conference tournament quarterfinal, but were eliminated in the semifinals by top-seeded and eventual champion Johnson & Wales University.
