Newton North Thanksgiving Football 2018: Tigers V Warriors
Newton North hosts Brookline as the tigers take on the warriors for their annual battle.
NEWTON, MA — While Newton South had its football face off Wednesday, North is set to face off against rival Brookline on Thanksgiving as tradition has dictated for the past century or so. And it's going to be a cold one out there, so bring the mittens, the hot beverages and your best cheer.
After facing each other during the regular season in recent seasons the Newton North and Brookline High football teams will play each other for the first time this season on Thursday.
Newton North won five straight Thanksgiving Day games between and 2013-2017. Last year North beat Brookline 41-8. Don't let the recent streak fool you though. Historically, the teams have held their own against each other, with Newton North leading the series by eight games.
