NEWTON, MA β€” Prepare for Newton to transform into a free music festival Saturday. Last year was Newton's first foray into PorchFest, and it went over so well it's back for a second year.

Newton Community Festival of the Arts sponsors the event, which comes during "Linda Plaut Festival of the Arts" along with some 50 other special events between May and June.

The day-long grass roots free neighborhood music festival started in the Boston area with Somerville in 2011. The neighborhood of Jamaica Plain hopped on board in 2014 and today there are more than a dozen in Greater Boston, including in Newton and Brookline.
