Newton Resident Grossman Plans Gubernatorial Announcement
State Treasurer and Newton resident Steve Grossman has hinted for months at a run for the governor's seat.

Newton residentΒ Steve Grossman, the Massachusetts state treasurer and former chairmanΒ of the Democratic National Committee,Β plans to officially announce his run for governor soon.
Grossman will announce his decision to runΒ at the Democratic state convention over the weekend, according toΒ WSHM-TV, Springfield's CBS affiliate.
"I think it will be clear, at the Democratic state convention in Lowell this Saturday, that I am running for governor," Grossman told the TV station.
Another Democratic candidate who jumped into the governor's race Wednesday is State Sen. Dan Wolf of Harwich, according toΒ Masslive.com.Β Donald Berwick, the former head ofΒ Medicare and Medicaid, has also said he's running, the news website says.
There's also speculation thatΒ Attorney General Martha Coakley might run, according to theΒ Boston Globe.
An election to replace Gov. Deval Patrick, another Democrat, will take place in 2014.
