Newton-Wellesley 'HopeWalks' Raises $180K for Cancer Patients

WGBH's Callie Crossley Was This Year's HopeWalks Emcee

The Newton-Wellesley Hospital Charitable Foundation has announced that its fifth annual HopeWalks event held on Sunday, September 28, 2014 had over 850 participants and 65 teams and has raised to date more than $180,000 to benefit the Integrative Support Services offered at the Vernon Cancer Center. These life-enhancing services for cancer patients optimize healing and comfort throughout treatment. Newton-Wellesley Hospital wants to make these services available to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay.

Donations may still be made to HopeWalks at www.nwh.org/hopewalks or by calling (617) 243-6243.

β€œOur 5th HopeWalks was such a powerful community event. To see so many people walking in honor of friends and family who have fought or are fighting cancer was truly inspiring,” said Joan Archer, president, Newton-Wellesley Hospital Charitable Foundation. β€œWe are tremendously grateful for the community’s support and that of our corporate sponsors – all of which sends a very strong message of hope to all our cancer patients and their families.”
