Pressed Cafe Open In Newton

The cafe offers everything from cilantro-lime chicken panini to grilled salmon blt to vegan spicy bbq kabobs.

NEWTON, MA β€”If you're looking for a spot to order breakfast burritos, soups, salads, panini, quinoa bowls and smoothies, Pressed Cafe, which opened quietly last month in Newton has a number of options.

Roi and Miri Schpindler, a married couple, had the idea to take high end ingredients and create fresh food, quickly and started the New Hampshire-based cafe in 2016. The Needham Street spot, like it's sibling cafes, features classic American, Asian flavors and there's Middle Eastern flare.

As the name alludes, Pressed offers a bevy of pressed juices and panini, along with grain bowls and salads, mac and cheese and several vegetarian and vegan options.

Look for breakfast burritos that range from the basic egg, cheese and potato ($5.95) to the "Healthy Start burrito bowl" ($11.50). There are bagels, toasts, shakshuka and salads, too.

The vegan Zohan panini features avocado, hummus, tomato, vegan cheese and a spicy sauce to complement a vegan kabob on ciabatta. It's surprisingly delicious. ($13) Comes with a side and a pickle.(Photo: Jenna Fisher/Patch)

The vegan menu, which utilizes something the cafe calls a vegan kabob: something that tastes similar to a Beyond Beef/Impossible Meat product, but with more spice.

The space is approximately 3,694 sq. feet and has the front entrance brings you right to the counter to order. The menu, which somehow fits on a front and back lamented sheet includes a number of vegetarian options marked with a V, and a handful of vegan options marked VG. But there's also an entire section on the menu to highlight the vegan options. Once you order, you're given a table number so someone can deliver your meal to you at one of more than a dozen tables or, should you choose to sit at the counter that lines the span of the wall, up there.

The spot is open from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

The cafe has three other locations, two in New Hampshire and one in Burlington that opened in 2016.

The restaurant has been featured on Phantom Gourmet and on Chronicle.
