Snow In Newton Tues: What's Canceled, Parking Ban, What To Know

Here's what to know about today's snow in Newton.

NEWTON, MA β€” As snow starts falling in the Garden City the Mayor's office announced that City Hall, the library and the senior center will all be closing at 3 p.m. and all meetings scheduled for today have been canceled.

Be careful where you park. Beginning at 10 p.m. a parking ban will be in affect, according to Newton Police. That will last until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

DPW crews are out treating roads and will be out all night, according to officials at city hall.

According to the National Weather Service the snow could be heavy at times. Watch for a steady temperature around 24. East wind 7 to 9 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible in Newton.

Tonight the snow may turn to freezing rain and sleet, becoming all rain after midnight. Watch for a low around 31. East wind 7 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. New snow and sleet accumulation could add an inch or two to what's already there.

Wednesday there's a chance of rain, mainly before 7 a.m. Then it will turn mostly cloudy, with a high near 44.
