NEWTON, MA β€” If you are picking up a student at Oak Hill or Brown middle schools be careful where you stop. That's the message from the Newton Police department after they received "numerous" complaints this spring.

Police said they've received numerous complaints of cars stopping in the rotary at Wheeler Road and Meadowbrook Road during school dismissal time.

"Please be advised, you are NOT allowed to stop in the rotary to pick your child," police posted to Facebook. "There are signs posted in the rotary stating this. Stopping in the rotary obstructs traffic from moving through the area and most importantly it puts our students in danger."

Police said they plan to have officers present at the location during dismissal time this week to enforce this violation. They are advising residents to utilize legal on- street parking or the blue zones in the area.
