Waltham Man Arrested in Middle Schooler Assault

NEWTON, MA - A man wanted by police for assaulting a middle school student earlier this week has been arrested.
Carlos Cruz-Aguilar, 24, was arrested in Waltham Thursday night, hours after police released a surveillance video and sketch of the suspect.
Cruz-Aguilar, a Waltham resident, was charged with armed robbery andΒ arraigned Friday in Newton District Court, the Middlesex County District Attorney's office said in a statement. A judge ordered Cruz-Aguilar be held without bail while he awaits a dangerousness hearing on Monday.

On Monday the 12-year-old boy told police he was walking to the bus when he was assaulted by the man, who also stole his cell phone.
