Uno's Pizzeria Former CEO To Sell Newton Mansion For $2 Million

NEWTON, MA —The former owner of Unos Pizzeria is selling his Newton mansion — the home where he and his family have lived since the 1970s. Arron Spencer, founded Uno Restaurant Holdings Corp. was the CEO until he sold the company in 2011. He happens to also own a piece of undeveloped land in Newton. You might remember that in 1966, Spencer opened the first KFC restaurant in Boston, and then eventually opened more than 33 throughout the metro area. Part of his story is that after trying Uno Pizza in Chicago, in 1979 he brought deep-dish to the east coast, opening his first Pizzeria Uno at 731 Boylston Street in Boston. In 2010 the chain filed for Chapter 11 protection, But there are still some 200 Uno restaurants across the country and abroad. In 2016, BostonInno estimated his net worth at $50 million, making him one of the state's wealthiest restaurateurs.
