Youth pro Musica to sing at Yom HaShoah event in Newton, April 12

Remembering the 6 million who perished through poems written by Theresienstadt children set to music by Charles Davidson.

Youth pro Musica, the greater Boston Youth Chorus, will sing at Newton's Temple Emanuel Yom HaShoah memorial on April 12 at 7 PM. This is a FREE event commemorating the Holocaust and the six million people who perished, as well as those who survived. Robert O. Trestan, Regional Director of ADL, will speak at this event; Cantor Elias Rosemberg and Temple Emanuel's choir will also sing. Temple Emanuel is located at 385 Ward Street in Newton, MA. All in the wider community are invited to attend.

Under artistic director Robert Barney and with staff accompanist Yvonne Gobis, Youth pro Musica will present selections from β€œI never saw another butterfly”, based on poems written by the children of the Theresienstadt (Terezin) concentration camp later set to music by Charles Davidson. This choral song-cycle is a dramatic reminder to the worldβ€”by virtue of the childlike innocence and naΓ―ve hope expressed in the resolute courage of those young poetsβ€”of the depth of the unredeemable, savage brutality of the Holocaust's death machine that sought nothing less than the annihilation of the Jewish people and its children.

Youth pro Musica is a community of young singers in grades 3-12 who are inspired to excellence through meaningful repertoire, comprehensive musical training, and memorable collaborations and performances. YpM members have appeared in world premieres; made a professional recording with other choruses from the greater Boston area and abroad, and performed most recently in the Boston Bach Birthday Bash. YpM's singers have traveled to Montreal, New York City and London to present concerts.
