North Andover Home Sales Increased in June

Does this represent a local real estate boom?

Following a statewide trend toward a rise in real estate sales, North Andover saw a spike in single family home sales in June, compared with June 2012, according to The Warren Group.

There were 37 single family home sales in North Andover in June, up from 29 in June 2012. That represents a more than 27 percent increase. And year-to-date sales in June were 121, up from 108 in June 2012.

Home prices saw a more modest increase. The medium home price in June was $496,000, up less than 2 percent from June 2012. Year-to-date medium price has seen a slightly higher increase of almost 3 percent.

Statewide, single family home sales increased for the second consecutive month and spiked to the highest level in three years, signaling a real estate boom in the Bay State, The Warren Group report says.

"The housing market continues to boom locally, and nationally," The Warren Group CEO Timothy M. Warren Jr. said in a statement. "As long as mortgage rates and home prices don't spike too high, we'll see a very strong recovery year for the market in 2013."
