"Eyes" can see you....

Thought and Poem

Thought and Poem – June 28, 2015

Growing up had its challenges and we managed to get where we are today somehow, but not without first pulling a few “fast ones” on our parents.

My mother always told me she had eyes behind her head and that she could see everything I was doing. I spent many moments examining the back of her head to see if I could discover one of her eyes winking at m; letting me know that what I was doing was picked up on her radar.

Still I remember there were many times I did get away with doing things I wasn’t supposed to; well at least not at that time. And then there were occasions where I had to wiggle my way out of situations using a few little white lies.

When I left home and had a family of my own, I could tell when my children were trying to pull a fast one on me. I would give them the third degree and allowed them to discern just enough of what I thought they had done which made them wonder if I knew...and then they would spill the “beans!” Who were they trying to kid? Didn’t they see my “been there done that” T-shirt?

What about you? Do you have a “been there done that T-shirt of your own in your closet? Share your thoughts with us...Jeanne Claire Probst

“Eyes” can see you….

Remember all the things you did behind your parents’ back?
That they never found out about because they never did ask.
But even though you thought they didn’t know...
“Pay back would be double’” as the saying goes.

We thought we were smart enough to pull the wool over their eyes...
We hid the truth by telling little white lies...
Somehow they could sense when we’ve done something wrong...
So maybe we hadn’t really fooled them all along.

They seemed to have eyes behind their heads...
Always kept one step ahead of us and they knew where we had been...
Always seemed to know what we had done...
So it was true…we really weren’t fooling anyone.

Then when we had children of our own and they tried to sneak a fast one past us from time to time...
Remembering our own experiences allowed us to sense when they were out of line...
Wearing our T-shirt that we’ve worn thin...
We let the kiddies know “we had been there done that“ way back when and they won’t try to sneak something by us again.
