Man Charged With Murder In Worcester Stabbing Death

WORCESTER — A man was arraigned Friday on a murder charge after being secretly indicted by a Worcester County Grand Jury this week for a November 2020 stabbing death, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Dana Gaul, 43, of 118 McCarthy St., Cherry Valley, was arrested Thursday evening by Worcester Police on a straight warrant and his indictment was unsealed today.

Around 7:45 p.m. on Nov. 24, 2020, Worcester Police responded to the report of a group fighting in the area of 96 Water St. When they arrived, they found Rose suffering from multiple stab wounds. Rose was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus where he died three days later of his injuries.
The Worcester Police Department Detective Bureau investigated the case for eight months. They identified Gaul through surveillance footage, cell phone video and images, and eyewitnesses.
Gaul was held without bail following his arraignment. He is due back in court on July 1.
