Rep. Harold Naughton Bows Out Of Race, Endorses Meg Kilcoyne

Rep. Harold Naughton will not run for state representative but instead wrote a letter to the editor endorsing Meg Kilcoyne for his seat.

The following was submitted as a letter to the editor by Rep. Harold Naughton. If you would like to submit a letter to the editor, email samantha.mercado@patch.com.

In April, after much thought, I announced that I would not be running for re-election to the House. For the last 40 years, I have had the pleasure of serving our communities in multiple local, state and Federal positions, including service in the United States Army. For thirteen terms and 26 years, you have given me the distinct honor of serving as your State Representative.

Reflecting on the last 10 years, my office couldn’t have accomplished all that we did without the leadership of Meg Kilcoyne. Her guidance, knowledge and dedication as both Legislative Director and Budget Director for the 12 th Worcester District has secured millions of dollars in funding, stopped cuts in essential services in our towns, and made our communities cleaner by preventing environmentally dangerous development.

Please allow me to be perfectly clear. Meg Kilcoyne will be ready to work and lead on day one of the new term. Her talent, skill and experience will allow her to make positive accomplishments from the start. On the job training is not an option during these turbulent times. Meg will go to work in the same place she has been everyday for the last ten years.

I respectfully ask you to vote for my friend and colleague Meg Kilcoyne for State Representative.
