Worcester County Man Charged With Murder In July Shooting

WORCESTER — A man shot on July 9 in Worcester has died, and another man has been charged with his murder, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Jose A. Merced, 32, of 1 Eames St., was ordered held without bail after being arraigned today in Central District Court. He was arrested Saturday afternoon by Worcester Police, about 13 hours after the shooting victim was pronounced dead.

Worcester Police responded to 6 Mount Pleasant St. at 4:52 p.m. on July 9 and found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his chest and head.
The victim had remained hospitalized and in other medical facilities since the shooting.
Merced, who had previously been indicted on charges related to the shooting including armed assault to murder, was out on bail before being taken into custody on Saturday.
His case was continued to March 1.
