Meeting: The Friends of the North End Library will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the North End Library located at 25 Parmenter Street.

Get Ready for Valentine’s Day: Does anyone in your life like candy or cupcakes? Most people do. Go shopping at Lulu’s Sweet Shop, located at 57 Salem Street, where you’ll find all kinds of sweet delights.

Good food for Valentine’s Day: If you find yourself in the neighborhood on Thursday, go out to dinner anywhere in the neighborhood. One place to try (or return to) is Ristorante Fiore located at 250 Hanover Street.

This day in history: On February 13, 1633, Galileo Galilei arrived in Rome where he faced charges of heresy after supporting the theory that the earth revolves around the sun.
