ACQUIRE: Parisian Settee With Modern Feel

Salem Street boutique offers unusual home furnishings.

Most of us love our living spaces but sometimes they need a little facelift of sorts.

It might be that we’d like a new color or texture in our living room.

If that’s what you think a room in your house or apartment needs, stop by ACQUIRE and look around.

Owner Nikki Dalrymple stocks the boutique with an eye toward “vintage influences with contemporary design.”

She describes herself as loving “big scale and frank color; organic materials and textures; and contemporary art mixed with antique furniture and found objects.”

A television producer for about 12 years, Nikki moved to Boston in 2004 and decided she was no longer interested in pursuing a television career and her heart was really in design.

So she opened ACQUIRE in 2008 in the North End.

Nikki said she is a self-trained designer and that she loves having a boutique in this community.

“I’m an ex-New Yorker and the North End had a mix of old and new and that resonated with me,” she said.

One of the items in the shop that Nikki likes is a Parisian settee with “a modern feel” that she described for us.
