Boston Area Teen Among 5 Killed in Israel Attacks

The 18-year-old was fatally shot when a gunman opened fire on a line of cars in traffic.

Five people were killed Friday in a pair of attacks on Israel, including an 18-year-old American, the Associated Press reports. Palestinians carried out the attacks in Tel Aviv and in the West Bank.

The American was identified as a male resident from the Boston area, according to NECN. It’s not immediately clear why the teen was in Israel. His name has not been released.

One suspect reportedly stabbed two Israeli men to death in an office building in Tel Aviv. The Boston area teenager was among three people who were fatally shot during an attack in the West Bank. Six others were wounded in the shooting.

Police said the West Bank shooter opened fire on a line of cars in traffic, killing the teen, as well as an Israeli and an Arab.

In recent months, 17 Israelis have been killed by the rash of violence in the area. 82 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire, according to the report.

Authorities were able to apprehend the suspects in both attacks.
