Boston Common Closing North End Coffee Shop

It will be serving free coffee on the last day.

NORTH END, MA — The North End is losing its Boston Common Coffee Co. outpost, according to an online report confirmed by staff.

The last day for the 97 Salem Street coffee shop and cafe is Monday. According to staff, the location will be serving free coffee on that final day, although the kitchen will likely be closed.

Boston Common faces stiff competition in a coffee shop-saturated neighborhood like the North End. Additionally, its relatively less-trafficked location means tourists are less likely to stumble upon it then, say, the Thinking Cup at the other side of the block on Hanover Street.

The local coffee chain has three other locations, including a not-so-far walk from Salem Street to its Canal Street cafe, near North Station.
