Boston Police to Host National Night Out in the North End

BOSTON, MA — The Boston Police Department will honor Neighborhood Watch groups and other community partners this week in a series of events Monday and Tuesday.

The department said in a press release, "We look forward to highlighting the partnerships between the community, youth, police, other city agencies and community-based organizations which have thrived for many years."

Attendees can expect free food, games, and entertainment for the kids. Events run from 3-9 p.m.

National Night Out is Tuesday in the North End at The Prado.

Police are urging residents to switch on their outside lights these nights, demonstrating "our united community effort against crime," the release said.

"Neighborhood residents, who are involved in crime watch/prevention activities, work cooperatively with the police in order to reduce fear and deter crime in their neighborhoods. It is these residents that help the Boston Police Department perform our duties in a more effective manner. Our relationships form the basis for successful community policing efforts and strengthen the partnership between the residents of this city and the police. Thank you all for your participation, and we look forward to seeing you there!" police said in the release.
