Death in North End, Tragedy in Newtown, CT

On December 11, Michael Mercogliano died. The entire North End mourned this man who touched the lives of all who knew him.

Although the Newtown, Connecticut shooting did not occur in our state, all of us heard the news and have the 26 people in our prayers.

Life goes on, however, even when we have heavy hearts.

In the North End, people are shopping for the holidays at a number of establishments including High Gear Jewelry located at 204 Hanover Street; Shake The Tree at 67 Salem Street among other boutiques such as Heart & Sole, and Twilight.

People are purchasing libations at The Wine Bottega and other establishments.

On December 10, the thinking cup – a new shop with high-quality coffee, pastries, sandwiches and breakfast -- opened at 236 Hanover Street. North End Patch was there on Friday to speak with owner Andre Sadowski.
