Get Out And Vote

Here is the news for what's going on in the North End today.

North End goes to the polls: Today is the election. Go early, mid-day or evening but make sure you exercise your right to vote.

No events but a gift to latecomers: The North End Library on Parmenter Street, along with others in Boston, is waiving fines for overdue books and other checked-out materials from today until Thanksgiving.

This Day in History: On November 6, 1860, Abraham Lincoln was elected the 16th president of the United States. He was the first Republican to win that office. Lincoln received 40 percent of the popular vote but defeated the other candidates: Southern Democrat John Breckinridge, Constitutional Union John Bell and Northern Democrat Stephen Douglas.
