Governor’s Budget, Getting Our Newsletter

Here's what took place in the neighborhood this week.

It was a busy week in the North End.

Our most important news was explaining the governor’s $34.8 billion budget to the Legislature on Wednesday. He said the proposed income tax hike is part of a comprehensive package aimed an investing in the state’s infrastructure and in driving growth.

We talked to some businesses that are pleased the Bruins are playing again after the lockout last fall.

Business at his restaurant was affected until the Bruins started to play again. Massimino’s had a 20 percent drop from last year when the Bruins played.

We also met Christine and Stephanie Savas who own Savas Studios located at 456 Hanover Street.

The sisters opened the boutique on October 22, 2010. They sell clothing for men and women as well as jewelry, accessories, original art and photography.

That’s just a bit about what goes on at Savas Studios.
