Boston, MA - The Boston Fire Department has identified a hoverboard as the cause of a Sunday night fire that could cost thousands in damages.

At about 9 p.m. Sunday evening, BFD tweeted it was on-scene for a fire showing at 406 Hanover St., in Boston's North End. Within an hour, BFD said, they had knocked down the fire and packed up to leave, but not before the flames did some serious damage.

The blaze began in the third-floor bedroom of the three-apartment building, started by a hoverboard, according to investigators' preliminary assessment, BFD said on Twitter.
