Kids Invited to Participate in Fenway Challenge Tuesday at Puopolo Park

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on Aug. 13 in the North End.

1. Rainy: Tuesday, Aug. 13 will be cloudy with a chance of showers and possible thunderstorms after 11 a.m. and into the evening, according to the National Weather Service. High: 78, Low: 62.

2. NEAD meeting: North End Against Drugs meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Nazzaro Community Center (30 N. Bennet St.). For more information about NEAD and about joining, contact Debra DeCristoforo at neadddc@gmail.com.             

3. BCYF Fenway Challenge: At the Boston Centers for Youth and Families Fenway Challenge, kids ages 7-14 get a chance to compete against others in their age group in baseball skills—base running, pitching and batting—for a chance to score a pair of Red Sox tickets. The event will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Puopolo Park in the North End. For information, contact Mike Devlin at Mike.Devlin@cityofboston.gov or 617-635-5206 x105.

4. Story times: The North End Branch Library (25 Parmenter St.) will host story times for toddlers at 10:30 a.m. and babies at 11:05 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13. At 4 p.m., children ages 3 and up are invited to participate in a fun and easy craft.

5. Call for entries: Artists in the Charlestown and North End neighborhoods are invited to submit entries for the next Greater Boston Community Art Exhibition. Send 4-6 images (in jpeg files), a resume and bio to Susan Merritt at artprogram@massconvention.com. Pieces must be at least 16 inches by 20 inches. The deadline for entries is Sept. 1.
