More and more, however, the word is getting out that this community has a number of places that serve breakfast.
North End Patch has been to visit several including Theo’s Cozy Corner and My Cousin’s Place.
Theo’s Cozy Corner
When Theo Cristo moved to this country from Brazil, he didn’t speak a word of English.
“I learned it here,” he said. “Working here (when it was Cozy Corner) was my first job.”
Theo is now the owner of “Theo’s Cozy Corner” located at 162 Salem Street.
“I’ve owned this restaurant for about 16 years,” Theo said. “I worked here starting in 1989 as a dishwasher when it was just Cozy Corner.”
The restaurant features Italian and Brazilian cuisine.
Theo is familiar with both kinds of food.
“I came from Brazil with a friend in 1989 and lived in Somerville,” he said. “I was working here and the former owner decided to sell the restaurant so I bought it.”
Customers can dine at Theo’s or buy take-out.
In addition to breakfast, Theo also serves lunch and dinner.
“I cook everything and have a staff to help me,” Theo said. “I love the North End because nice people live here.”

My Cousin’s Place
It’s almost a year since Ralph Verrocchi and Daniel Delia established a restaurant at 396 Hanover Street.
The first cousins, who grew up together on Prince Street, opened ‘My Cousin’s Place” on March 21, 2012.
“We make our customers feel like they’re in their own home,” said Ralph. “We’re here to serve the community and build long-lasting friendships with our customers.”
They serve coffee all day as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Some of the popular menu items are the breakfast sandwiches including One Egg and Cheese, Egg White and One Egg White and Cheese.
Ralph studied cooking.
“I went to culinary school at Johnson & Wales from 2008-2010 and always wanted a place of my own so when the storefront became available, we seized the opportunity,” he said.
Daniel took a different educational path but wanted the same thing as his cousin.
“I went to Suffolk University for business management and I always wanted to have my own place where I can make the decisions,” he said. “I like giving back to the community that always took good care of me growing up.”
