Markey said he backs President Barack Obama’s immigration proposal that provides a path to citizenship. He said he will challenge Republicans who oppose granting citizenship to illegal immigrants residing in the US.

Lynch expressed similar support for immigration reform. In addition, he said he had been a strong supporter of the proposed Dream Act which had it passed would have given young immigrants a path to citizenship.
