Mayor at Charity Dinner in the North End

Mayor Thomas M. Menino went to the CityFeast charity dinner at Antico Forno yesterday.

The North End restaurant, located at 93 Salem Street, is owned by Carla Agrippino-Gomes who founded CityFeast eight years ago to benefit the Joslin Diabetes Center.

The mayor has been to the charity dinner every year since it began in 2005 but found yesterday's to be particularly meaningful.

He was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes this past fall and urged people to be tested for the disease, which is usually lifelong with high levels of sugar in the blood.
