Monday Essentials: NEWRA Summer Party, Free Concerts and St. Anthony's Feast

MONDAY

  • Children’s films: On Mondays, come and watch children films at the North End Branch Library (25 Parmenter St.). Call the library at 617-227-8135 to verify that this event has not been rescheduled or canceled.           

TUESDAY

  • Storymobile visit: The ReadBoston Storymobile will visit Long Wharf on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 11:30 a.m. Pack a picnic and come enjoy a story. Each child will receive a free book.
  • Biographies on film: On Wednesdays in August, drop by the North End Branch Library (25 Parmenter St.) for a film series featuring biographical movies. On Aug. 21, watch “The Glenn Miller Story” (1954).
  • NEWRA Summer Party: The North End/Waterfront Residents Association will hold their annual summer party on Tuesday, Aug. 20 from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Pilot House (2 Atlantic Ave.). The event is free and open to all local residents. There will be food, wine, beer, soft drinks and desserts, according to the event posting on northendwaterfront.com.
  • Waterfront Performing Arts Series: The 2013 Waterfront Performing Arts Series at Christopher Columbus Park will continue on Tuesday, Aug. 20 with a performance by the Exiles (modern rock and soul) from 6-7 p.m. and the Boston Bhangra dancers from 7-8:30 p.m.

THURSDAY

  • Concert on the Prado: The North End Music and Performing Arts Center is offering a free summer concert series on the Prado (Paul Revere Mall off Hanover Street). On Aug. 22, enjoy traditional choral music “from Spain to the New World.” Concerts begin at 7 p.m. Learn more at nempacboston.org.
  • City Hall To Go: Boston’s "City Hall To Go" truck will be in the North End on the fourth Thursday of every month at 12:30 p.m. To find out where exactly the truck will be, follow @CityHallToGo or see the online calendar. The bright red vehicle provides a range of city services, including the ability to pay or dispute parking tickets; request birth, death or marriage certificates; and pay property and excise taxes. FRIDAY

  • Greenway concert: The Berklee College of Music is bringing free summer concerts to the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway on Friday evenings throughout August. Siv Jakobsen will perform on Aug. 23. Concerts are free and begin at 6 p.m. at the North End Park (46 Cross St.). Learn more at berklee.edu/events/summer.
  • St. Anthony’s Feast: The 94th annual Feast of Saint Anthony will kick off Friday, Aug. 23 with opening ceremonies at 7 p.m. on Endicott, Thacher and North Margin streets. The Italian Connection will perform at 7:30 p.m. on the main stage. The feast will continue Saturday and Sunday.
