NEWRA Meeting, North End Jamboree Happening Thursday
Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on Aug. 8 in the North End.

1. Rain: Expect showers and a possible thunderstorm on Thursday, Aug. 8, with a chance of more storms, possibly with heavy rain, in the evening, according to the National Weather Service. The rest of the day will be mostly cloudy. High: 81, Low: 70.
2. NEWRA meeting: The North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association will meet Thursday, Aug. 8 at 7 p.m. at the ABCD Center, 1 Michelangelo St. (corner of Michelangelo and Charter streets). Note: This location is for August only; most meetings are held at the Nazzaro Center. All North End area residents are welcome to attend. View the full agenda at newra.org.
3. North End Jamboree: North End Waterfront Health and North End Against Drugs will host the North End Jamboree on Thursday, Aug. 8 from 2-4 p.m. at Polcari Playground (between Prince and North Bennet streets). Part of North End Family Pride Week, the jamboree will include a poster contest, a play performed by the Improbable Players and music by the Nazzaro Center Band.Â

4. Concert on the Prado: The North End Music and Performing Arts Center is offering a free summer concert series on the Prado (Paul Revere Mall off Hanover Street). On Aug. 8, Berklee College of Music’s modern jazz ensemble Chroma will perform. Concerts begin at 7 p.m. Learn more at nempacboston.org.
5. Rock Talk: Make a sand painting, play the Rock Take-Away Game and do the Fossil Hokey Pokey with science educator Meg Balaconis on Thursday, Aug. 8 from 11-11:45 a.m. at the North End Branch Library (25 Parmenter St.).
