North End Houses Hauntingly Beautiful Memorial

The New England Holocaust Memorial is located at the corner of Hanover and Union streets.

Right here, in the North End, the New England Holocaust Memorial majestically flows into the sky.

Six 50-foot-high glass and steel towers, located at the corner of Hanover and Union streets, pay homage to Holocaust victims and recollections of survivors.

It was designed by Stanley Saitowitz, selected through an international competition and dedicated in 1995. Stories of those who lived through the nightmare of being in the camps are set into the glass.  The towers have the etchings of 6 million numbers – the identifying tattoo of those Jewish victims of the Nazi’s actions during World War II.
