Rachelle Bond, Bella’s 40-year-old mother, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Her boyfriend, Michael McCarthy, is charged with the murder of Bella.

The 35-year-old punched Bella to death in her bedroom and placed her in a trash bag, prosecutors allege. He then stored her remains in the refrigerator before dumping the bag into the water.

Bond is being held on $1 million bail. McCarthy is being held without bail.

After getting a tip Sept. 17, Boston Police detectives led an investigation, including searching the same apartment on Maxwell Street, where Bond and McCarthy were taken into custody.
