Here are events and information for what's going on today in the neighborhood.
Tales for toddlers: The North End Library on Parmenter Street offers a half-hour of stories and physical activity from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. for children ages 15 months to 3 years old. A caregiver must accompany the participants.
Meetings: The Friends of Christopher Columbus Park will meet at Mariner’s House, 11 North Square, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The North End Waterfront Neighborhood Council will meet at the Nazzaro Center, 30 North Bennet Street, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

This Day in History: On October 9, 1942, Chicago bootlegger Roger “The Terrible” Touhy escaped from Stateville Prison in Illinois. Touhy, who was serving a 99-year sentence for a kidnapping he didn’t commit, got out by climbing the guard’s tower.
