Shaking the Tree to See What Falls Out
Salem Street shop offers gifts, clothing and other lovely items.
Marian L. Klausner is the “Chief Mover & Shaker,” of a boutique located at 67 Salem Street.
Called Shake The Tree, the spacious and pretty shop is filled with gifts, clothing, jewelry, handbags, bath and baby items as well as decorations for one’s home.
Marian opened the shop in 1994 in Brookline and then re-located to the North End in 2004.

“When I first came here, there were very few shops and it seemed like the neighborhood was ready for non-food specialty shops,” Marian said.
North End Patch is grateful Marian took time to speak to us. It’s a busy season and she had a lot of customers who were shopping for the holidays.

But we looked around and saw handbags and wallets in many colors, shapes and sizes.
One in particular was a lovely shape of purple and quite roomy inside. With its strap, one could wear it over the shoulder or carry it by hand.
There are also shelves filled with wine glasses, scented candles, plates and holiday decorations.
Toward the back of the shop, sweaters and jackets are hanging along with colorful holiday dresses.
