Somerville Man Arraigned for North End Stabbing
The defendant was released on personal recognizance after the fight at a Hanover Street bar.

A Somerville man was arraigned Thursday after allegedly stabbing another man during an early morning fight in the North End, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley announced.
Evan Cobb, 22, was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and carrying a dangerous weapon. Judge Catherine Byrne released Cobb on his own recognizance, despite the prosecution’s $10,000 bail request.
Boston Police responded to calls form the Point bar on Hanover Street about 1:13 a.m. Thursday for a report of a stabbing. Officers quickly found Cobb, who was bleeding from a cut over his right eye. While talking to him, the learned of the stabbing victim inside the bar. Police followed a blood trail and found a 32-year-old man lying on the floor with a stab wound to his neck.

Witnesses reportedly identified Cobb, saying that he and the victim had been involved in an argument outside that led to the fight. One witness saw Cobb holding a knife behind his back during the fight, prosecutors said.
Officers reportedly found a folding knife clipped to Cobb’s back pocket. He reportedly admitted to police he was in a fight with the victim, and said he pulled out a knife when the victim overpowered him in the fight.

The victim was brought to Massachusetts General Hospital with a stab wound to the throat and has since been released. Cobb was transported to Tufts Medical Center for the cut over his right eye, a swollen lip and minor cuts and scratches.
Cobb is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 7.
