Your Guide To The North End
Have you recently moved here? Maybe you've lived in the North End for a while but haven't had time to explore or jot down important information.
Welcome to the North End.
If you're new to this neighborhood, you'll likely want a few tips on places to go and information to have handy.
For starters, here are some phone numbers you will need: for emergencies, call the police at 911; if you need a taxi, there are several such as Hertz that will take you to Logan (617-569-7272) and Avis (617-561-3500). Budget taxi service can be reached at 800-527-7000.

The closest post office is located at 217 Hanover Street. It's small and there are rarely lines (except, perhaps, around the holidays). The hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If you need a doctor, North End Waterfront Health, located at 332 Hanover Street, is accepting new patients.

The North End Library, located at 25 Parmenter Street, offers activities every week day as well as on Saturdays for children, teenagers and adults. There are computers for library patrons to use as well as books, videos and other reading-related materials to enjoy there or check out.
As for shopping, you're now in the best Boston neighborhood for Italian delicacies.
A good place to check out is Salumeria Italiana at 151 Richmond Street. The shop carries products such as cured meats, cheese, pasta, oils and vinager. Salumeria Italiana also carries rice, coffee and desserts. It has been serving the local community for over 50 years.Â
Anywhere you go -- whether a restaurant or cafe -- in the North End will have excellent coffee.
If you're a European football fan, Cafe Paradiso and Caffe Dello Sport -- both on Hanover Street -- air the matches in real time.
And there are a number of historic sites here in the North End including Old North Church on Salem Street, Paul Revere's house at 19 North Square and the Copps Hill Burial Grounds on Hull Street.
