American Cancer Society elevates North Reading resident to VP
Louise Santosuosso as Vice President is focusing on new growth areas in New England for the American Cancer Society.

The American Cancer Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Louise Santosuosso as Vice President focusing on new growth areas in New England. She took on this new role in January 2021 and reports directly to the Society’s area development leads.
“We are thrilled to appoint Louise to our leadership team in the Northeast and are confident her contributions will help fuel the Society’s 2021 priorities,” said Anthony Marino, Executive Vice President for the Northeast Region at the American Cancer Society. “Louise’s extensive talent and knowledge of the region will be critical to helping us continue our mission to lead the fight for a world without cancer. We are incredibly grateful for the passionate dedication of our entire staff, as well as volunteers, to ensure lifesaving progress in the fight against cancer will not be put on hold because of COVID-19.”
Santosuosso joined the American Cancer Society in 2017 after spending 25 years in the financial services industry where she held a variety of marketing leadership positions at John Hancock, Fidelity, Columbia Asset Management and Putnam Investments. Most recently, she served as Assistant Vice President of Sponsorship Marketing at John Hancock where she was responsible for growing existing and developing new sponsorships such as the Boston Marathon, Boston Red Sox, Pan-Mass Challenge, Fenway Fantasy Day to Benefit the Jimmy Fund, and Best Buddies.

“I’m excited to take on this new role because my passion for the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving mission is a personal one; I’ve lost both of my parents to cancer,” said Santosuosso. “After my father passed away 12 years ago after facing Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, I rallied a team of family and friends to volunteer at the Society’s Hope Lodge in Jamaica Plain on several occasions. Inspired by those amazing experiences, I joined the Boston Key Gala’s Corporate Council to lend more of my time supporting the work of Hope Lodge. When the last of my two grown daughters, Olivia and Emma, graduated from college, I joined the Society on staff full-time. Sadly, in March 2019, we lost my mother to kidney cancer, so I am even more passionate than ever about this cause. I’m honored to continue the work of this venerable organization.”
Santosuosso is a fitness instructor and avid cyclist and has personally raised more than $500,000 by cycling for cancer-fighting events, including the American Cancer Society’s Bicycles Battling Cancer. She currently resides in North Reading, Mass., with her husband Edward and rescue pup Dora.
