The smell of fresh apple pie drew residents to the grounds of the Daniel Putnam House Saturday for the 19th annual Apple Festival. Kids enjoyed pony rides and played in a pile of hay while parents drank free apple cider and voted on the best apple pie in town.
The event featured over 30 vendors, live music, dance performances and the famous apple pie contest. Residents viewed artwork on display and participated in silent auctions all day.
The Historical Society, sponsors of the event, opened up the Sergeant George Flint House and set up a Farm Museum with an old horse drawn cultivator and other items for residents to get a sneak peek of North Reading history.
