Book Bargains Available Ahead of the Holidays

Stock up on great reads and help the Flint Memorial Library's programs.

Looking for a great book at a great price? Look no further than the Friends of the Flint Memorial Library’s semi-annual book sale.

Held every November and May, the sales raise money for the Friends organization to help pay for programs at the library, museum passes for patrons, and much more.

The fall sale will begin Thursday, Nov. 6 with a special Friends-only preview night from 5 to 8 p.m. Not a member of the Friends? That’s OK! You can join at the door! New members are always welcome.

The sale will also be held Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — those are extended hours to allow for more convenient shopping! — and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Prices for all books and media are:

  • Adult hardcovers - $2
  • Adult paperbacks - $1
  • Children’s books - $0.50

And there’s even a table filled with baked goods to help you snack while you shop. Friend, library volunteer and author Karen Vitale always outdoes herself every year by collecting the town’s best baked goods for the sale!

If you’re thinking you’d actually like to drop off some of your used books and help the library stock the sale, you can still do that by bringing them to the Big Hearted Books boxes at the library’s parking lot (147 Park St.) or at Eastgate Plaza (14 Main St.)

See you at the book sale! Books make great stocking stuffers!
