CIT is Accepting Nominations for 2020 Trusted Award

The North Reading Community Impact Team’s Youth Substance Use Prevention Coalition and Youth Action Team is now accepting nominations for the 2020 Trusted Adult Award. Drug-Free Communities Grant Director Amy Luckiewicz explained, “As our coalition looks at substance use prevention we cannot underestimate the impact adults have on shaping young people. Adults should be encouraged to be open and available to the town’s youth and know that they can really make a difference by listening and engaging with young people. This award is meant to recognize those individuals who kids see as a go-to person in their lives.” Any individual living or working of the Town of North Reading, of adult age, is eligible. Organizations may not be nominated. Youth of any age through high school may nominate an adult by completing the 2020 Trusted Adult Award Nomination Form and submit it to the Community Impact Team by the September 4, 2020. Up to 3 winners will be selected based on the nomination form. Winners will be selected by students in the Youth Action Team and will be presented with a 2020 Star Award at the Community Impact Team Annual Breakfast this summer. About the North Reading Community Impact Team

The North Reading Community Impact Team (CIT) is a partnership between the North Reading Police Department, North Reading Youth Services, North Reading School Department, North Reading Parks & Recreation, North Reading Fire Department, North Reading Elder Services, North Reading Board of Health and the North Reading Select Board. The team was developed to better coordinate the services provided to the community. The CIT’s mission is to work together to better the quality of life for all citizens. The Team emphasizes the use of innovative, non-traditional methods of impacting crime and the fear of crime and strives toward cooperative interaction between the community, law enforcement and town departments. The CIT works to identify factors that have a negative impact on the quality of life for the citizens of North Reading and to implement solutions that solve the underlying problems. The group is organized into Action Teams including: K-12, Youth Substance Use Prevention Coalition, and Social Services.
