Controlling Mosquitos in North Reading: Aerial Spray Planned

Residents don't have to do anything to prepare for the spray that aims to control the mosquito population in North Reading's wetlands.

NORTH READING, MA — If you see a helicopter overhead from April 19 to April 30, it could be the East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project workers. They're expected to spray a larvicide that will "control" the population of mosquitos in North Reading's wetlands, the town said.

Residents don't have to do anything to prepare for the spray — the town says the larvicide affects mosquitos larvae and a few other closely related insects.

Here are the areas that are being considered for the spray:

Anderson Meadow, Batchelder Ave., Chestnut St., Crestwood Rd., Equestrian Dr., Essex St., Ipswich River flood plain by Elm St., Lakeside Blvd., Linwood Ave., Marblehead St., Martins Brook, Oakdale Rd., Swan Pond Rd., Takoma Circle, Tarbox La., and Winter St.
