Gun Confiscated After Alleged Altercation Between Neighbors

The following is a look at some of the calls handled by the North Reading Police Department from Friday through Sunday. The information is open to the public.

Friday, August 16

• At 10:20 a.m., a Mt. Vernon Street resident reported that someone threw an egg at his wife’s car. He also reported that someone had thrown an egg at his car two weeks prior.
• At 4:03 p.m., a caller reported a car accident on Winter Street. No injuries were reported.

Saturday, August 17

• At  9:36 a.m., a caller reported that two of his vehicles were broken into overnight.
• At 9:49 a.m., a Greenmeadow Drive resident reported that someone cut down her shrubs. The resident thought it was a neighbor.
• At 12:50 p.m., a Greenmeadow Drive resident reported hearing a loud argument between two people on his street. The resident said he heard someone say, “Don’t point a gun at me.” Police spoke to the parties involved and dismantled and confiscated a rifle.

Sunday, August 18

• At 1:26 a.m., an emergency caller reported a male walking in the middle of the road on Main Street. As a result of the call, an 18-year-old Wilmington male was held in protective custody.
• At 2:06 a.m., a caller reported a car accident on Washington Street. Police were unable to locate a vehicle on Washington Street, but they did find an unoccupied vehicle on Mt. Vernon Street. As a result of the incident, a 23-year-old North Reading resident was held in protective custody.
• At 12:55 p.m., a caller reported a car accident on Main Street. At least one car was towed from the scene.
• At 3:53 p.m., an employee from the Thomson Country Club requested police assistance because someone was using a potato gun to shoot golfers.
• At 5:44 p.m., a Sandspur Lane resident reported that his cell phone was stolen from his car.
• At 7:28 p.m., a caller reported finding a syringe and hypodermic needle. Police disposed of the needles.
