Joe Capalbo, a resident of North Reading, and Area Director of Operations for Kimpton Hotels of New England and General Manager of the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel in Cambridge, is taking a running program that he started for hotel guests virtual this fall, and making it a public fundraiser for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

According to Joe, “To keep our hotel guests and community safe, we're taking our Kimpton Marlowe Hotel fitness program, #RunWiththeGM, where I would typically run in the mornings with our hotel guests along the Charles River, virtual and amping up the distance to support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute."

He’s inviting family, friends and neighbors to join him, as he runs a virtual half-marathon on October 3, 2020 at 9am. At that same time, you can walk/run (skip or jump) any distance virtually, from anywhere, to help stay the course in a fight against cancer that likely touches so many of us.

With your participation and financial assistance, no matter how big or small, Joe has set a personal goal to raise $13,100 to support the critical funding needs of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, an organization that’s near and dear to so many of us. Joe’s mother passed away from brain cancer on October 2nd twenty-six years ago, and his step mom is undergoing treatment for Leukemia at Dana-Farber now.

Joe says, “Like so many families, we’re so fortunate to have Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, which provides expert, compassionate care to children and adults and is home to groundbreaking cancer discoveries, here in our backyard."

The funds Joe will raise through this virtual #RunWiththeGM initiative will help fund active clinical trials each year, offer personalized support and resources for patients and their loved ones, and support state-of-the-art facilities that bring effective treatments to patients quickly.

Joe invites everyone who can support him and his fundraiser to lace up those sneakers and virtually run (or walk) with him on October 3, 2020, and be sure to post photos along the way and use #RunWiththeGM and tag @kimptonmarlowehotel on Instagram or post to Facebook here.

He’s hopeful that for every mile you run or walk, you can pledge $5.00 or $10.00 per mile. No donation is too big or too small. Please share this page with family and friends so that they can take part and support Joe as well.

Joe is incredibly thankful and concludes by saying, "My half-marathon may look a bit different than expected because of COVID, but miles are miles and fundraising for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is always something to feel great about. I am incredibly grateful for whatever amount the community can help support me with."
