North Reading CIT Announces Free Spring Workshops
Workshops are aimed at improving the quality of life for all

The North Reading Community Impact Team has announced over a dozen free community education programs for the Spring of 2020. The Youth Substance Use Prevention Coalition, Social Services Action Team, Elder Services and Mental Health Subcommittee is thrilled to offer community programming in the areas of substance use prevention, accessing treatment resources, mental health care, and parent skill development.
Drug-Free Communities Grant Director Amy Luckiewicz explained, “This is the most robust public workshop series we’ve offered. In particular, we’re excited that we can offer programs to all ages in partnership with the Senior Center and offer new programs.” Among the new offerings is the 40 Developmental Assets Workshop. Luckiewicz continued, “We’re looking to start a movement in North Reading with all residents involved. Thanks to sixty years of research by the Search Institute, we know which assets are most important to building resilient kids. We hope that all community members are interested in being asset-builders, not just those with children.” In addition to youth development workshops, Substance Use/Mental Health Clinician Laura Miranda will be offering new programs in accessing treatment resources, self-care, and open office hours. She commented, “All of these programs are aimed at improving the quality of life for North Reading residents. We’re thrilled to offer something for everyone.”
