Old North Reading Garage Being Transformed Into Hollywood Set

The Winter Street garage has become Rudy's for "Kay's Baptism."

Movie fans have been steadily flowing past the former garage near Heav’nly Donuts that will be used for the movie “Kay’s Baptism” to get a glimpse at a piece of Hollywood in North Reading.

The Jennifer Lawrence/Bradley Cooper/Robert DeNiro film, which has also been going by the name “Joy,” has been filming in Wilmington and will shoot in North Reading next week.

There has been activity at the former garage this week as workers get the location ready for the shoot.

The North Reading filming will take place on March 2 through 4 and March 23. There will be three additional days of filming in the middle of March that will be announced.

The shooting will cause a traffic disruption. Winter Street will be closed on the above days at Winter and Main streets and Winter and Park streets. The road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the filming dates except for local residents.

Local residents will need to enter and exit Winter Street from Park Street.

North Reading Police will be on location to help with traffic control. Traffic will be detoured away from Winter Street.

The film’s assistant location manager delivered information about the film and detour to neighborhood homes on Sunday.
