Reading Cooperative Bank Gives Brownie Tour as Part of Teach Children to Save Program

Reading, MA – On February 27th, Sandy Convery, Manager of Reading Cooperative Bank’s Reading Branch, spent time with Girl Scout Brownie Troop #85447 from Wood End Elementary School in connection with the Teaching Children to Save (TCTS) program. Sandy is very active with the Girl Scout TCTS program and every year she provides tours of the bank to local troops. This year, the girls visited different departments of the Reading branch and learned about loans and safe deposits boxes.

“It was a pleasure to see the girls going through the bank with Banking Specialist Amy VanMagness. They were so enthusiastic to learn about banking, and hearing them ask questions to learn more is always a great feeling. We were happy to host the girls and teach them the basics of banking,” says Sandy Convery, Reading Branch Manager.

Teaching Children to Save (TCTS) is a national program that organizes bank volunteers, like Convery, to help young people develop savings habits early in life. The program was founded in 1997, and since that time over 145,000 volunteers have taught over 6 million students the importance of saving.
